Syracuse University sophomore Johvonne Hernandez threw 15.23 meters (49-11.75) in the shot put on Friday afternoon at the 2003 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship, held at the University of Arkansas’ Randall Tyson Center.
Hernandez' mark did not put her into the shot put finals, but capped an impressive season that included two BIG EAST titles in the shot put and weight throw. She set a school record at the BIG EAST Championship in the Carrier Dome on February 22-23 in the weight throw with a mark of 63-4.25 (19.31m) and won the shot put with a throw of 52-10 (16.10m).
Syracuse begins its outdoor season at the Hurricane Invitational on March 22 in Coral Gables, Fla.
