
Grimaldi Ties School Record At Brown Invitational

Grimaldi also jumped 5-10.75 at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship last year.
Sophomore Johvonne Hernandez won the shot put (45-5) and discus (154-1), and took third in the hammer throw (161-0). Freshman Kristen Michalski took second in the hammer with a mark of 170-8.
Freshmen Jessyca Jackson and Sarah Bentley took fourth and fifth place in the women’s pole vault, with both clearing 11-0.25. Sophomore Tatiana Warren placed second in the triple jump (38-6.25) and third in the long jump (18-5).
Graduate student Opal Jones ran 14.17 to win the100-meter hurdles. She was also second in the 200-meter dash in 25.09.
On the men's side, junior Joshua Johnson won the long jump (22-7) and triple jump (49-0.75). Senior Richard Polidore followed Johnson in the long jump with a mark of 21-11. In the men's high jump Brien Flewelling jumped a season-best 6-6 in the high jump for fourth place, while senior Matt Troha cleared 6-4 for fifth place.
Freshman Santos Rodriguez posted his first career BIG EAST qualifying mark with an eight-place finish in the hammer throw (151-7). Fellow frosh Valerij Petrulevich led the Orangemen on the track with a second-place finish in the 800-meter run in 1:51.68. The time qualifies him for the BIG EAST and IC4A Championship.
SU returns to action on Saturday, April 19, to compete for the Chancellor’s Cup at the University of Buffalo.
