No. 13 Syracuse Rows Against Cornell and Yale on Saturday

SYRACUSE, NY - The Syracuse University women’s rowing team competes in its first home race of the season against Cornell and Yale on Saturday, April 5 on Onondaga Lake.
The second novice four race starts the morning off at 8 a.m. and the varsity eight follows at 8:15.
The SU rowing team is ranked 13th in the first USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association NCAA Division I Varsity Eight Coaches Poll with 185 points. Yale ranks eighth with 311 points, and Cornell rounds out the poll at No. 20 with 35 points. The University of Washington claimed the top spot in the opening poll with 457 points.
The Orangewomen started off the season with a sweep of four races against Boston University and Massachusetts on Saturday, March 29 in Boston, MA.
Three Orangewomen from the varsity eight boat hail from the Syracuse area. Senior co-captain Nicole Garofalo (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) is a returning rower from the 2002 varsity eight boat. Senior co-captain Lesley Wolf (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham) and sophomore Shawna O’Brien (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) are competing in the top eight for the second straight week.
Last year, the Orangewomen had boats finish second in five of six races against Yale and Cornell on the Housatonic River. The varsity eight finished second behind Yale and ahead of Cornell. It was the first time in 712 days that the Orangewomen's varsity eight has been defeated in a regular season race.
