
Rose and Switenko Named All-BIG EAST

Rose, last season's BIG EAST Rookie of the Year, started all 42 games in left field. She hit .316 to become the first Orangewoman ever to hit at least .300 in her first two seasons. Rose led the team in runs scored with 26 and was second with 73 total bases. She hit a career-best seven home runs and stole 10 bases without getting caught. Rose led the team during BIG EAST play with a .375 average, 24 hits, a .625 slugging percentage and a .431 on-base percentage.
Switenko started all 42 games, 41 at shortstop and one as the pitcher. She tied the school record with nine home runs, the most ever by an Orangewoman rookie. Switenko led the BIG EAST with seven home runs during conference play. She paced the team with 24 runs batted in, the second-most ever by an SU rookie. Switenko also set the school record with eight games with at least two runs batted in.
Syracuse has had at least one player named all-conference in each of its three seasons in the BIG EAST.
The Orangewomen finished the 2003 campaign with a 17-25 overall record and a 7-13 mark in conference competition.
