The Orangewomen, coming off 3-11-3 season, garnered 41 points and were selected to finish ahead of Virginia Tech and Providence.
The Huskies, last year’s conference champion, garnered 13 of the 14 first-place votes for a total of 91 points. Boston College received the other vote and was picked to finish second followed by Miami and St. John’s.
In the Mid-Atlantic Division, Notre Dame was chosen to capture the regular-season crown, while last season’s Mid-Atlantic champion, West Virginia, was tabbed as the runner-up.
The top four teams in each division advance to the conference’s championship tournament, with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s College Cup.
The Orangewomen begin the season at home on August 29 versus Binghamton and kickoff the BIG EAST portion of their schedule when they host Northeast Division rival Virginia Tech on September 21.
