
Field Hockey Holds On To Defeat Central Michigan, 3-2

Senior Ann-Marie Guglieri paced the Orange with a goal and an assist. Sophomore Joanne Lombard added a goal, and sophomore Paige Sullivan notched the game-winning tally.
Guglieri put the Orange up early with an unassisted score with 19:36 remaining in the first half. Central Michigan's Alisa Folk put the Chippewas on the board with 7:10 left in the period to knot the game at 1-1.
In the second half, Guglieri set up Lombard off a failed penalty corner to give SU a 2-1 lead with 23:56 left on the clock. Sullivan scored the eventual game-winner just over three minutes later. Tarah Trottier pulled the Chippewas within one with 15:14 left in the game, but they couldn't crack the Orange defense.
Junior Betsy Wagner posted eight saves between the pipes for Syracuse, including stops on four straight Central Michigan penalty corners in the first half. Danielle Frank made just one save in net for the Chippewas.
Syracuse (2-3) hosts Columbia on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Coyne Field.
