
Orange Volleyball Defeats Rhode Island, 3-1

DURHAM, N.H. - Sophomores Kristen Conway and Kelly Duan both recorded double-doubles as the Syracuse volleyball team snapped its five-match slide with a 3-1 win against Rhode Island. The Orangewomen (8-6) defeated the Rams, 30-25, 17-30, 31-29, 30-27, on the final day of the UNH Tournament.
Conway had 14 kills and 17 digs, while Duan posted 11 kills and 10 digs, as well as a team-high .421 hitting percentage. Sophomore Katie Allen tied her career high with eight block assists, along with one solo block. Sophomore Kathryn Dercher posted 27 assists, and classmate Aila Dommestrup had 20 helpers. Senior libero Christen Casey had 17 digs, and sophomore Jessica Logan recorded 12 digs.
Amy Kauppila recorded 16 kills on 42 attempts and 15 digs for the Rams. Beatriz Arana had 11 kills on 35 attempts and 14 digs, and Rachel Bello had 14 kills. Mary Kate Reardon led URI with 35 assists, and Kaleena Miller had a team-high 23 digs.
SU returns home for four straight matches. The Orangewomen start their home stand on Friday, Sept. 26, at 7:00 p.m., against BIG EAST foe Georgetown in the newly-renovated Manley Field House.
