SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Senior center Nick Romeo has been selected SU's Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 22.

Romeo was selected to the 2001 and 2002 Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-America District I Football Team. He has been a member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll in all seven semesters and he is a three-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star.

Romeo has started every game of his career. In SU's game against Central Florida on Saturday, Romeo centered the line that blocked for Walter Reyes, who broke the Carrier Dome record by rushing for 241 yards and four touchdowns. Romeo is a candidate for the 2003 Rimington Trophy, awarded annually to the best center in Division I-A.

Romeo and the Orangemen host Toledo on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 6:30 p.m., in the Carrier Dome.
