Orange Tennis Eliminated From Title Contention at Maryland Invitational

Freshman Katie Bramante lost to Marianne Baker of Maryland, 6-1, 6-1, in the Flight B semifinals. In Flight C, sophomore Wei-Ming Leong lost to Ashley Constantine of West Virginia, 7-6(8), 2-6, 6-1, in a consolation match. Freshman Kendyl Severino lost to Raynie Theis of West Virginia, 6-0, 6-1, in the consolation semifinals.
In Flight A singles, senior Trine Lise Juliussen lost to Akane Kokubo of Cornell, 6-3, 6-1, in a consolation match. Freshman Ashley Lipton advanced in the consolation side of the bracket with a default win against Ramona But of Maryland.
In Flight A doubles, Juliussen and Leong won their quarterfinal match, 8-5, against Lindsay Cox and Katie Karhohs of Richmond. They were eliminated from the championship portion of the bracket by Sasha Zerkalova and Julia Colarusso of American, 8-0, in the semifinals - their first loss as a pair. Lipton and Severino advanced to the Flight B semifinals by default, but lost to Kara Maloy and Kasia Preneta of Cornell, 8-5.
Syracuse finishes competition at the Maryland Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 28.
