
Three Graduate Assistants Join SU Staff For 2003-04

Brown, a 1994 SU graduate, returns to his alma mater after a professional playing career. He played in the CFL from 1995-99, and competed for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the NFL from 1999-01. Brown was also a member of the 2000 NFL Europe World Bowl Champion Rhein Fire of Dusseldorf, Germany. After retiring from playing, Brown worked as a communications manager in the University of Pittsburgh Office of Public Affairs. He is pursuing his master’s degree at SU, and will be a graduate assistant for strength and conditioning this year.
Cerullo joins the Orangemen staff after spending two years at Northeastern as an assistant coach and video coordinator. In 2002, the Huskies won the Atlantic 10 championship and an NCAA playoff berth, and finished the season ranked 10th nationally. Cerullo coached the defensive line at Curry College for one season before leaving for Northeastern. Prior to that, Cerullo spent nine seasons (1991-99) as the defensive coordinator at Masconomet Regional High School. He was a four-year starter at running back for Central Connecticut State, and played semi-pro football for the Bellingham Minutemen. Cerullo served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a combat engineer from 1993-97 before he was honorably discharged. He will serve as a graduate assistant for football administration while pursuing his master’s degree in instructional design at SU this year.
Gilbride graduated from the University of Hawaii in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in speech. He played on the special teams unit for the Warriors in 2000 after sitting out the 1999 season following his transfer from Brigham Young. Gilbride earned four letters as a member of Hawaii’s baseball team, playing in the outfield, first base and designated hitter. As a senior, Gilbride played in 18 games with nine starts and hit .308 with four runs batted in. His father, Kevin Gilbride, is the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills. Gilbride is a graduate assistant for video for the football Orangemen.
