Meet Joe Fields Thursday on "Orange Pulse"

Tonight on Orange Pulse (6:00 p.m., ESPN Radio 1260AM) "Voice of the Orange" Mark Johnson and one of SU's newest football student-athletes, quarterback Joe Fields will discuss the big step Fields made leaving high school early for college. Fields enrolled at SU and joined the Orangemen after a graduating from Washington (Texas) High School in three-and-one-half years. He is the first-ever Orange football student-athlete to enroll in January after graduating early from high school.

At Washington, Fields earned all-district honors as a sophomore and junior and was named the district Most Valuable Player as a junior. As a senior, he completed 97 of 187 passes for 1,823 yards and 17 touchdowns and rushed 88 times for 492 yards and two touchdowns. During his junior year he completed 92 of 188 passes for 1,492 yards and 15 touchdowns and rushed 69 times for 666 yards and 11 touchdowns his junior season. Fields also played basketball at Washington, averaging 11 points and eight rebounds per game as a shooting guard.

In addition, Johnson will also talk with Notre Dame men's basketball play-by-play voice Jack Laurie to preview the Orangemen's game against the Fighting Irish scheduled for Saturday, January 17 at 6:00 p.m. (ESPN2) in South Bend, Ind.
