Orangewomen Sweep ECAC Weekly Track and Field Honors

CAPE COD, Mass. – Junior Valerie Boling and freshman Sheron Mark were both honored by the ECAC as the women’s track and women’s field athletes of the week, respectively, on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

Boling won both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes to lead the Syracuse women’s track and field team to a third-place finish at the Cornell Four-Way on Saturday. She recorded a time of 7.80 in the 60m and a time of 25.20 in the 200m. Her time in the 200m qualifies her for the BIG EAST Indoor Championship.

Mark won the long jump with a leap of 5.77m (18-11.25) and placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 11.92m (39-1.25) at the Cornell Four-Way. She tied for first place in the high jump with a height of 1.65m (5-5.0). Her jumps in all three events qualified her for the BIG EAST meet, and her long jump and triple jump performances qualified her for the ECAC Championship.

Syracuse returns to the track at the Penn State National Open, Jan. 30-31, in State College, Pa.
