SU Volleyball Wins Third-Straight Match

New Brunswick, N.J. – The Syracuse volleyball team extended its win streak to three matches on Sunday, Oct. 10, as the Orange defeated Rutgers, 3-1. After falling behind after the first game, SU was able to win the next three games to win the match, 18-30, 30-18, 30-28 and 34-32. SU is now 16-5 overall and 2-1 in the BIG EAST, while Rutgers moved to 11-6 overall, 0-2 in the BIG EAST.
Junior Kelly Duan led all Orange student-athletes with 18 kills on 36 attempts. Duan also recorded two aces and eight digs. Senior Morgan Jones had 17 kills on a team-high 39 attempts. Junior Aila Dommestrup set up the Orange attack, recording 50 assists, and having five kills of her own. Freshman Joscie Kaup led SU with 13 digs, and freshman Jen Malcom recorded eight block assists.
For Rutgers, Dawn Christjaener recorded a double-double with 19 kills and 12 digs. Lora Yankauskas recorded a match-high 23 kills, and Abbey Martin had a match-high 58 assists.
SU next plays at Canisius on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 6:00 p.m.
