VILLANOVA, Pa.. – The Syracuse men’s soccer team lost its eighth 1-0 game of the season, losing at Villanova in BIG EAST play on Saturday, Oct. 30. The Orange are now 4-12-0 overall and 2-7-0 in the league. The Wildcats improved to 7-5-4 overall and 5-3-2 in the conference.
The game’s only goal came in the 60th minute. Patrick Gallagher headed in his second goal of the season off a Jonathan Lopuski free kick near the corner.

Syracuse had only two shots in the second half, but the defense was able to hold the Wildcats to one goal despite trying to extend the offense. Orange goalkeeper Rich Scheer made two saves in the game. Villanova keeper Craig Bald had four saves in the shut out.
Redshirt freshman Isaac Collings was the only SU player with more than one shot. Villanova outshot the Orange, 12-7. Syracuse held a 3-0 corner-kick advantage.
All 12 of the Orange’s losses this season have been by one goal. SU has been eliminated from BIG EAST Tournament consideration. Syracuse will end its season on Tuesday, Nov. 2 at Pittsburgh.
