VILLANOVA, Pa. -- Villanova scored two goals within the game's first six minutes and never looked back as it defeated the No. 15-ranked Syracuse field hockey team, 3-1, at Villanova Stadium. The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak for the Orange and marked its first BIG EAST Conference setback of the season.

Villanova (8-3, 2-1 BIG EAST) outshot the Orange, 12-5, in the first half and 20-9 for the contest. The Wildcats took a commanding 3-0 lead early in the second half when Foster registered her second goal of the game off a feed from Vanessa Pizzulli.
Syracuse (8-5, 2-1 BIG EAST) got on the scoreboard at the 42:31 mark when sophomore forward Ashley Fry (Douglassville, Pa./Oley Valley) beat out her defender for her fourth goal of the season.
Senior Betsy Wagner (Cherry Hills, Colo./Colorado Academy) finished with 11 saves on the night, while Villanova goalkeeper Erin Scott recorded five.
