Junior defensive back Anthony Smith has been named BIG EAST Performer of the Week announced Nov. 1 by CollegeSportsReport.com. Smith is the third Orange player to be honored by the College Sports Report, senior tailback Walter Reyes and junior tailback Damien Rhodes were named Division I performers of the week on Oct. 4.

Smith intercepted a UConn pass and returned it 33 yards for a touchdown in Saturday's 42-30 win against Connecticut. The touchdown was Smith's first on an interception return and third of his career (two blocked punt returns). Smith started the game at cornerback, due to an injury to DeAndre LaCaille, and tallied four solo tackles one quarterback hurry against the Huskies.
