Orange is Well Represented in NFL

Former Syracuse linebacker Morlon Greenwood tallied seven tackles, including six solo, for the Miami Dolphins last night on Monday Night Football. On Sunday, former SU standout Donovan McNabb threw for 219 yards and one touchdown. At the midway point of the NFL season, 26 former Orange student-athletes are on 16 different NFL rosters.
McNabb leads the Philadelphia Eagles, the NFL’s only undefeated team, as one of the league’s highest-rated passers. He has 1972 yards and 14 touchdowns through seven games. His 102.9 passer rating ranks fifth in the NFL.
Greenwood is joined by fullback Rob Konrad and kicker Olindo Mare on the Dolphins’ roster. Greenwood has 42 tackles, including 24 solo, this season. Konrad has missed three games this year due to injury. He has four receptions for 21 yards, including one Monday night for 15 yards. Mare has missed the last four games due to injury. In the first four games, Mare hit 6-of-7 field goals, including a 47-yarder.
The Indianapolis Colts have an NFL-leading four former Orange athletes, including former SU wide receiver Marvin Harrison, defensive end Dwight Freeney, running back James Mungro and defensive end Josh Thomas. On Sunday, Harrison had five receptions for 119 yards and two touchdowns. He has 39 receptions on the year for 485 yards and seven touchdowns. Freeney has 13 tackles this year, including 12 solo and four sacks. Mungro and Thomas have played primarily on special teams this season.
On Sunday, wide receiver Johnnie Morant tallied his first career catch, a 20-yard grab for the Oakland Raiders. Strong safety Quentin Harris has 16 tackles, including 14 solo, and one interception for the Arizona Cardinals.
Tennessee Titans linebacker Keith Bulluck has a team-leading 66 tackles, including 43 solo and two sacks. Kicker Gary Anderson had nine points on two field goals (23, 45) and three extra points for the Titans on Sunday.
Free safety Donovin Darius has 43 tackles, including 29 solo, and four fumble recoveries for the Jacksonville Jaguars this season. Strong safety Tebucky Jones leads the New Orleans Saints with 51 tackles, including 42 solo, and he has one interception.
