Orange Football Earns Another Accolade

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse was named the CollegeSportsReport.com I-A Team of the Week on Nov. 29. The Orange defeated No. 17 Boston College, 43-17, on Saturday, Nov. 27 to earn a share of the BIG EAST title.
SU had 397 yards of total offense, including 309 on the ground. Junior running back Damien Rhodes ran for 107 yards on eight carries and one touchdown, before leaving the game with an injury in the first quarter. Rhodes was replaced by starting strong safety Diamond Ferri, who rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, he returned an interception 44 yards for a touchdown, in addition to his six tackles.
The Orange defense held the Eagles to 271 yards of offense, including only 71 on the ground. The SU defense forced four turnovers, tallying three interceptions and one fumble recovery. Syracuse recorded three sacks against the Eagles, sophomore Jerry Mackey and juniors Kellen Pruitt and Ryan LaCasse each had one sack.
