Senior strong safety Diamond Ferri (Everett, Mass.) added two more honors to his impressive list of recognition for his performance in the Orange's 43-17 victory at #17 Boston College on November 27. He was named The BIG EAST Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, becoming the first player in the history of the league to garner both honors during the same week. He was also honored as the CollegeSportsReport.com I-A Performer of the Week.

Ferri played multiple roles in leading the Orange victory that gave SU a share of the BIG EAST title. A former running back, Ferri replaced injured teammate Damien Rhodes, who was starting for the injured Walter Reyes, at tailback in the first quarter. Ferri went on to rush for 141 yards on 28 carries, and two touchdowns. He scored on a seven-yard run in the first quarter and added a four-yard TD run in the second quarter.

On defense, Ferri played a key role in holding the BC offense to just 10 points - more than 14 points below its season average of 24.2 ppg. One of the Eagles' two touchdowns came via a blocked punt that was returned for a score. Ferri made six tackles in the game, including four solo stops. In the fourth quarter, Ferri intercepted a pass and returned it 44 yards for a touchdown.

Ferri also earned the Walter Camp Division IA Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, was selected as a Cingular Wireless/ABC Sports All-America Player of the Week finalist (voting concludes on Dec. 2, www.abcsportsallamerica.com or www.espn.com), and was a finalist for this week's "Pontiac Game Changing Performance" Award.

Ferri and the 2004 BIG EAST co-Champion SU squad are awaiting word on which bowl game the team will play.
