Jenkins Named to Freshman All-America Team

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Redshirt freshman defensive tackle Tony Jenkins has been named to the 2004 Freshman All-America First Team by Rivals.com. Jenkins is one of 27 student-athletes to earn first team honors.
Jenkins has 43 tackles this season, including 19 solo and one for a loss. Jenkins has been a solid force in the middle of the defensive line, playing in all 11 games and starting 10. He has broke-up four passes and tallied three quarterback hurries. Jenkins tallied his first blocked kick on a PAT attempt at Purdue. He recorded his first career fumble recovery in the Orange’s 42-30 victory versus Connecticut.
The Orange finished the season with a 43-17 win at No. 17 Boston College and is awaiting a bowl invitation, which is expected within a week.
