Prendergast Named Third-Team All-Region

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Junior defender Ezra Prendergast has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-New York Region Third Team. Prendergast is the first SU player since 2002 to earn all-region accolades.
Prendergast, from Kingston, Jamaica, played in 16 games for the Orange, including 14 starts. He scored one goal in his first season at SU, netting the game-winning tally in a 1-0 win versus Providence. Prendergast also helped the Orange defense to three shutouts.
Prendergast was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 25 after his performance against Providence and helping the Orange to a 2-0 win against Rutgers. He was the first SU defender to earn the award since 1997.
Prendergast was an NSCAA Junior College All-American at the Globe Institute of Technology in New York city before transferring to Syracuse for the 2004 season.
SU finished its season with a 5-12-0 overall record and a 3-7 mark in the BIG EAST. The Orange won three of its final five contests.
