ORLANDO, Fla. – The Syracuse football team had another busy day while preparing for its matchup with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the Champs Sports Bowl on Tuesday, Dec. 22.
The day started with team meetings and then it was off to the Kickoff Luncheon.
Before the luncheon, Coach Pasqualoni conducted a question-and-answer session with the media. He also posed for photos with the bowl trophy and Georgia Tech head coach Chan Gailey.
“We want to thank Florida Citrus Sports,” Pasqualoni said. “This is truly a great experience for our team. We’re really excited to be here and are looking forward to playing what we consider an outstanding Georgia Tech team.”

During the Kickoff Luncheon, senior center Matt Tarullo was honored as SU’s scholar-athlete. Tarullo, a first-team Academic All-American, has already earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology. He has started every game during the last three seasons. A $2,500 donation will be made to the SU general scholarship fund in his name.
“It’s great to receive this award,” Tarullo said at the banquet. “I want to thank my coaches and the support staff. Without them, this wouldn’t be possible. I also want to thank my teammates. In any situation, they’ve been there to back me up. When you’re done playing at Syracuse, you’re not just a great athlete, but a great person.”

Following the luncheon the team headed back to the Citrus Bowl complex for its final walk-through before Tuesday’s game.
The game kicks off at 7:45 p.m. and will be televised nationally on ESPN.
