
Orangewomen Head to Nicholls State for Mardi Gras Mambo

THIBODEAUX, La. - The Syracuse softball team will try to build on its second win against a ranked opponent when it travels to the Mardi Gras Mambo hosted by Nicholls State. SU is 1-5 on the season, and will face the host Colonels, Ole Miss and McNeese State in tournament action.
The Orangewomen offense had three starters hit .300 or higher at the season-opening Fiesta Bowl Classic. Sophomore Cassie Morales led the team with a .385 batting average. She hit one home run and drove in four runs. Junior Tiffany Robinson hit .368 with a team-best seven hits and two stolen bases. Sophomore Alexis Switenko drove in a team-best six runs, while hitting .353. Switenko smacked a pair of home runs to take over sole possession of second place on SU's career list (11).
Freshman Courtney Mosch earned the pitching victory against 13th-ranked Cal State Fullerton. Mosch paced SU's pitchers with 18 strikeouts in 22.1 innings.
Before tournament play begins on Saturday, the Orangewomen will play a single game versus Nicholls State on Friday, February 20. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. eastern time.
On Saturday, February 21, the Orangewomen will play McNeese State and Mississippi. Sunday's schedule includes a game with Nicholls State and either the championship or consolation game.
