Zimmer Named BIG EAST Co-Offensive Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I.
-- Senior Leigh-Ann Zimmer was named the BIG EAST’S Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the week of the March 22. It is the second time this season she has been selected as the conference’s top offensive performer.Zimmer tallied six points on four goals and two assists in SU’s comeback win against Massachusetts on March 19. She scored two of the Orangewomen’s last three goals as Syracuse rallied from a 10-7 deficit to earn the victory, including the game-winner with five seconds left to play. Zimmer leads Syracuse in points (18), goals (14), and assists (4). She was also named to Womenslacrosse.com weekly honor roll for her performance against the Minutewomen.
Zimmer shared this week’s award with Lindsey Welch of Virginia Tech, who scored six goals in the Hokies’ win against Rutgers. Zimmer was also named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after she notched a personal-bestseven points in SU’s season-opening triumph at Virginia.The ninth-ranked Orangewomen will host the California Golden Bears on Tuesday, March 23 at 7:00 p.m.
