
Orangewomen End Season with 64-36 Loss to ARV/#25 Boston College

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Syracuse women's basketball team ended its season with a 64-36 loss to ARV/#25 Boston College in the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament on Saturday, March 6, at the Hartford Civic Center.
Senior Julie McBride scored eight points and added three steals and two assists in her final game as an Orangewoman. She finishes her career with 1,605 points, 574 assists, and 202 steals. McBride's 441 points this season ranks 10th on the all-time list. She joins Sherman Douglas as the only Syracuse player, men's or women's, to record 1,600 points and 500 assists. McBride is just the second women's player with 1,000 points, 500 assists and 200 steals in her career (Sue Ludwig).
Junior Chineze Nwagbo finished with 11 points and a team-best seven rebounds. Freshman Lauren Kohn posted seven points and three boards. Junior Rochelle Coleman recorded five points and four rebounds. Freshman Tracy Harbut scored her only points on her first career three-pointer.
Jessalyn Deveny led the Eagles with 14 points and Amber Jacobs recorded 13 markers. Boston College outrebounded SU, 41-22. BC shot 47.3 percent (26-of-55) from the floor compared with SU's 29.5 percent (13-of-44). The Orangewomen made just 2-of-15 three-point field goal attempts (13.3 percent), while the Eagles made 50 percent of their attempts from long range (7-of-14).
In the first half, Nwagbo's jumper at 11:07 cut BC's lead to two, 10-8. The Eagles outscored SU, 26-10, the rest of the half. Syracuse made just two field goals during that stretch. Jacobs scored nine of her 11 first-half points during the final 11 minutes of the period to lead the Eagles to a 36-18 halftime advantage.
BC started the second half with a 12-4 run to build a 26-point lead. After that point, the Eagles' lead was never less than 23 points, and was as high as 31 points en route to their 28-point victory.
The Orangewomen complete the season with a 6-21 overall record. Boston College is 22-6 overall and will face Miami in the quarterfinal round of the BIG EAST Tournament on Sunday, March 7, at noon.
