BIG EAST Remains in the Bowl Championship Series
We are very pleased that the Bowl Championship Series will include a fifth bowl and that the BIG EAST will remain in the elite conferences in the nation. Our goals every year have included being in a BCS bowl. I would say very small things have affected us, changing our season from 9-3 to 6-6. I think that is where we are really striving as a team to take care of the very small things that turn into big things on the field. Right now we are trying to keep the small things out of play. We are trying to be on our best behavior and do well in school. Even more so, we are trying to keep our strong commitment to the community in our service activities. The community is the group that supports us – the people who come to our games. We enjoy being part of this community.
The BIG EAST has some quality teams. We are really excited to play next year's schedule because we will face some new teams. That will allow Syracuse to re-establish itself as a BCS contender.
There is a very fine line between being a team playing in a bowl and being a team sitting home in December. The small things off the field include giving our best effort in the classroom and in the weight room. There are some guys on our team who may not be the most gifted in the classroom, but they are working hard and making a very good effort to succeed. These off the field things lead to on-the-field success. The exact opposite also holds true. If we have a guy who is messing up off the field, not going to class, missing study table and tutor appointments, then you can expect him to mess up on the field.
I wish it was time for Spring ball right now. I wish Spring ball was starting this week, not Spring Break. We need to have Spring ball to get prepared for this coming season. That is what I am looking forward to.
