The Syracuse University field hockey team announced that Lindsay Kocher (Collingswood, N.J./Collingswood), Leah McKay (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton) and Elizabeth O'Hara (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem) were voted 2004 captains by way of a team vote. All three players will be seniors next fall.
Kocher, a defender, will be serving her second stint as captain of the Orangewomen field hockey team. She captained the 2003 squad and has started all 59 games of her career.
McKay earned a starting role at the midfield position last season. She played in 17 games and scored one goal on the season, a tally in SU’s 4-0 win against Columbia on Sept. 14.
O'Hara is a defender who despite limited playing time (six games in three seasons) has clearly demonstrated leadership abilities through her enthusiasm for the sport and the program.
All three student-athletes have been members of SU's Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and the BIG EAST Academic All-Star team. They were freshmen on the 2001 Syracuse team that won the BIG EAST Championship and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals.
