Zimmer and Joines Selected All-Region

ITHACA, N.Y.
-- Syracuse senior Leigh-Ann Zimmer and junior Monica Joines were selected to the 2004 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Association (IWLCA) Division I North All-Region First Team on Thursday, May 27.It is the fourth straight year Zimmer has been picked a a member of the region’s first unit the second consecutive first-team selection for Joines.
Zimmer led the Orange this season with 52 goals and 22 assists for a total 74 points. Her 52 goals and 74 points in 2004 are Syracuse single-season records. She also holds SU’s career records for goals (171) and career points (233). Earlier this month, Zimmer was named the BIG EAST’s Co-Attack Player of the Year and first-team all-league after leading the conference in scoring. She will participate in the North/South Senior All-Star Game on June 5 at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
Joines ranked second on the team this season with 40 goals and 48 points. She was also third on the squad with eight assists. Her 86 career goals place her sixth on Syracuse’s all-time goals list. Joines also joined Zimmer this season on the All-BIG EAST First Team.
