Seton Hall and Notre Dame to Meet in BIG EAST Championship Game

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Seton Hall defeated Notre Dame, 2-1 in eight innings to earn a berth in the 2004 BIG EAST Championship game to be played at the SU Softball Stadium on Friday, May 14. The Pirates will face Notre Dame, who came back from the loss to beat Villanova, 2-0, in the final game of the day.
Seton Hall needs one more victory for a BIG EAST title, while the Fighting Irish must win twice. Notre Dame has won the last two championships, including defeating Virginia Tech twice on the final day of the 2002 tournament. The Pirates have never won the conference tournament.

Game 2 - No. 1 Notre Dame 4, No. 4 Boston College 1
Friday, May 14
Game 3 - Seton Hall 2, Notre Dame 1 (8 innings)
Game 4 - Villanova 3, Boston College 1 (BC eliminated)
Game 5 - Notre Dame 2, Villanova 0 (Villanova eliminated)
Saturday, May 15
Game 6 - Winner G3 vs. Winner G5 - 1 p.m.
Game 7 - Same teams as Game 6, if necessary
