Orange Continues Streak Against Manhattan

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse continued play in the Big Orange Tournament by extending its unbeaten streak to six matches with a 3-1 win against Manhattan on Friday night. Syracuse won the match 30-25, 26-30, 30-18 and 30-18.
Junior Kristen Conway led the Orange attack with 13 kills. Junior Kathryn Dercher finished the match with a team-best 16 digs, while junior Aila Dommestrup and Dercher each has 24 assists.
Freshman Jen Malcom had three service aces against Manhattan for a total of seven on the day.
For the Jaspers, Maggie Pfeifer has a team-high 12 kills on 28 attempts for a .393 hitting percentage. Megan O’Dorisio made 15 digs and Lori Bambauer recorded 29 assists.
In the second game of the tournament, New Hampshire defeated Siena in three games, 30-17, 30-25 and 30-28. The highlight of the match was New Hampshire’s libero, Jen Williams, making her 1,000th career dig. Katie Weidner led the Wildcats with 24 assists and four service aces. For the Saints, Abbie Maciolek had 11 assists and Christie Gustafson and Diana Wierzba each recorded 10 digs.
The Big Orange Tournament continues tomorrow with Cleveland State vs. Manhattan at 10:00 a.m., Syracuse vs. Siena at 12:00 p.m., New Hampshire vs. Manhattan at 2:00 p.m., Cleveland State vs. Siena at 5:00 p.m. and Syracuse vs. New Hampshire at 7:00 p.m. All matches are played in Manley Field House on SU's campus, and admission is free.
