Orange Concludes Denver Tournament With Win Against Radford

DENVER, COLO. – Led by freshman Cheryl Cobbina’s 14 kills on 22 attempts for a .636 hitting percentage, SU closed out the Denver Tournament with a win against Radford, 3-0. SU, now 11-1 on the season, won the match, 30-27, 30-24 and 30-13.
Junior Kathryn Dercher recorded 47 assists and had three kills. Freshmen Joscie Kaup had 12 digs, while Ellen Bruegge had a match-high three service aces.
Radford’s Tiffany Guthrie had 15 kills, and Josie Hanners recorded 32 assists. Patricia Barth had a team-leading 10 digs for the Highlanders.
The Orange was led by a season-high 62 kills, for a team hitting percentage of .355, the highest percentage of the 2004 season. SU also recorded a season-high 57 assists.
Syracuse next plays at home against Binghamton on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 7:00 p.m. in Manley Field House.
