SAN JOSE, Calif. - Former Syracuse standout and current Major League Soccer player Chris Aloisi has been traded from the Los Angeles Galaxy to the San Jose Earthquakes. Aloisi just finished his first season in the MLS, playing in four games, including three starts, for the Galaxy in 2004.
In the deal, Galaxy forward Alejandro Moreno Aloisi will go to San Jose, while the Earthquakes sent defender Todd Dunivant and goalkeeper Steve Cronin to the Galaxy. The teams traded first-round picks, with the Galaxy taking the Quakes' top pick (No. 5 overall) and the Quakes getting the No. 6 overall pick from the Galaxy.
Aloisi was drafted by the Galaxy in the sixth round of the 2004 MLS SuperDraft. He signed a developmental contract prior to the season, but was activated prior to his first match on June 12. He started the match and played the entire contest in the Galaxy's 3-2 win versus the Chicago Fire.
Aloisi was named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team by the league's coaches in 2003. It was the second consecutive season Aloisi has earned third-team all-conference honors. The fifth-year senior was only the second player in Syracuse history to be named team captain three times (John McCallion).
For his collegiate career, Aloisi scored four goals and had four assists. In addition to his All-BIG EAST honor last season, he was also named first-team All-New York Region. He earned first- or second-team all-region honors three times.
