Women's Basketball on Television Three Times in 2005-06

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team will have three of its games aired on television as part of the BIG EAST Conference’s 2005-06 television package, the league announced on Friday, Oct.14.
SU’s road game at Villanova on Tuesday, Jan. 10 has been selected as one of College Sports Television’s (CSTV) “Tuesday Game of the Week” telecasts. In addition, the Orange’s road contests at Louisville (Feb. 12) and at Rutgers (Feb. 19) will be televised as part of the conference’s Regional Sports Network (RSN) package.
The Syracuse/Villanova clash is one of 12 “Tuesday Game of the Week” telecasts CSTV will air this season. CSTV will also broadcast the four quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Championship on Sunday, March 5.
SU’s game against the Cardinals will be televised on Fox Sports New York (FSN-NY) as well as WHAS-TV 11 in Louisville, Ky. and CATCH 47 in Tampa, Fl. When the Orange meets Rutgers, Madison Square Garden (MSG) will air the contest, in addition to CATCH 47.
Fans should check their local listing for the availability of these networks, as well as CSTV, in their areas.
The BIG EAST Conference has an unprecedented 71 television appearances in 2005-06, up from 58 appearances last year. The league will have two games televised nationally on CBS on Jan.7 when Rutgers plays at Michigan State and Connecticut visits Tennessee. In addition, six regular-season games involving league teams will be televised on ESPN2, as well as the conference championship game on Monday, March 7. Five conference match-ups have been chosen by ESPNU to air beginning in January and, in addition to SU’s two regional appearances, an additional six BIG EAST games will be part of the regional package.
The 2005-06 campaign gets underway for the Orange on Saturday, Oct. 15 when it holds its first official practice.
