Orange Takes On Panthers At Heinz Field Saturday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Orange travels to Pittsburgh to take on the Panthers in a BIG EAST match up Saturday at noon. Senior free safety Anthony Smith, who is tied for first in the nation in passes defended, looks to lead a defense against a Pitt offense that has scored 34.75 points per game in its last four contests.
The game will be televised on ESPN Regional Television with Dave Sims and John Congemi calling the action from the booth.
Smith averages 1.83 passes defended per game and is tied with freshman Mike Mickens from Cincinnati in that category. Smith is also tied for fourth in the country with 0.67 interceptions per game.
Pittsburgh started the season 0-3, but has since gone 3-1 in its last four games. Its loss came at Rutgers on Sept. 30 by a score of 37-29.
Last season in the Carrier Dome, the Orange defeated Pittsburgh 38-31 in double overtime. Senior linebacker Tommy Harris and Diamond Ferri stuffed a fourth-and-one in the second overtime to seal the win. Senior Damien Rhodes accounted for all of SU's yards in the second overtime, including a two-yard touchdown run.
Syracuse owns a 30-27-3 records against Pittsburgh all-time, but SU is 13-16 in road contests in the series. The Orange reeled off 10-straight victories from 1991-2001.
ORANGE ON THE RADIO
Matt Park and Coach Mac will begin their pregame show for Pittsburgh at 10:00 a.m. On the show is Kelvin Smith, who currently leads the Orange in tackles. Coach Mac talks with Pittsburgh running back coach David Walker. Park will also talk with head coach Greg Robinson, and listeners will also here from Pitt head coach Dave Wannstedt.

Take I-376, US-22 and go West for 14.2 miles. Take Exit 1 to North Shore and I-279 North. Bear left on ramp at sign reading Exit 11B - North Shore. <br>

Take I-79 North to Exit 14 for I-279 North towards Pittsburgh. Follow I-279 through the Fort Pitt Tunnel/Bridge (Left Lane) to the sign reading Exit 11A, 11B PA-65 North to North Shire/Ohio River Blvd and US-19. Take Exit 11B - North Shore.
From the north:
Take I-79 and go South to I-279. Follow I-279 to Exit 21 I-279 South to Pittsburgh. Take Exit 12 to North Shore.
From the west:
From the PA Turnpike (I-76 East). Take Exit 1A Rt-60-South towards Pittsburgh (Portions Toll). Continue to Pittsburgh following signs for US-22, US-30 and I-279 through the Fort Pitt Tunnel/Bridge. Follow I-279 through the Fort Pitt Tunnel (Left Lane) to the sign reading Exit 11A, 11B PA-65 North to North Shore/Ohio River Blvd and US-19. Bear left on ramp at sign reading Exit 11B - North Shore.
From the airport:
From the Pittsburgh Airport follow PA-Route 60-South towards Pittsburgh. Continue to Pittsburgh following signs for US-22, US-30 and I-279 through the Fort Pitt Tunnel/Bridge.
