On October 4, the Carrier Dome has hosted three football games, one men's soccer game and the Moscow Circus in the 25-year history of the building. The Orange football squad is 2-1, with victories against East Carolina and Missouri and a loss to Kansas, while the Orange soccer team tied Hobart. The Moscow Circus had eight performances from October 4 through October 6, drawing a total of 47,099 fans, including the opening day performance which attracted more than 10,000.
In 1997 the football Orange shut out East Carolina, 56-0. The defense allowed just 2.7 yards per game. Quarterback Donovan McNabb accounted for three touchdowns, including two rushing and fullback Rob Konrad gained 99 yards on 10 carries and scored a touchdown. In 1986, the Orange beat Missouri, 41-9, for its first victory of the season. Running back Harold Gayden scored two touchdowns and quarterback Don McPherson accounted for two, one each by pass and run. In the first season of football in the Dome, the Orange lost to Kansas, 28-3, in 1980.
The Orange men's soccer team tied Hobart, 1-1, in 1983. Kevin Smith scored the goal for the Orange.
More than 23.5 million people have passed through the revolving doors of the Carrier Dome since the building’s first public event on September 20, 1980. Throughout the 2005-06 SU athletics seasons the University will celebrate the first 25 years of the Loud House.
In the first 25 years of the Dome, more than 1,740 events were staged, including collegiate, professional and high school athletics events, University commencement, concerts, a circus, and community events. These activities are chronicled in the more than 100 photographs that are currently in the concourse of the Dome. Fans who attend events in the Dome can re-live the memories with these photos.
