SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Orange comes back to the Carrier Dome on Saturday, Oct. 15, to host Rutgers in a BIG EAST matchup at noon. The game will be televised on ESPN Regional. Last Friday, SU lost to Connecticut, 26-7, in its first trip to Rentschler Field. For ticket information for Saturday's game and all of SU's home games, click here.
In the game against UConn, sophomore strong safety Dowayne Davis posted a career-high 15 tackles. It was the most tackles by a player in the secondary since Keeon Walker had 16 in a game against West Virginia. Davis is currently tied for ninth in the BIG EAST in tackles with 7.2 per game.
Freshman Nick Chestnut has seen time at both ends of the field. As a wide receiver, Chestnut has caught two balls, both for touchdowns. Against Florida State, he caught a 30-yard strike, and he added a 33-yard score versus Connecticut.
“Nick Chestnut is doing a nice job for us," said head coach Greg Robinson. "We need to continue to try and exploit him to the best of our abilities. For a young player, he gets in there and gets dirty blocking, his routes are getting better and better, his understanding is better, he’s down there covering punts." SU enters the game with a 1-4, 0-2 BIG EAST mark. Rutgers is 3-2, 1-1 BIG EAST.
