
Field Hockey Primed for BIG EAST Semifinals Against Villanova

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Head coach Kathleen Parker and her Orange field hockey team will play top seed Villanova (14-4, ranked No. 17 nationally) in the semifinals of the 2005 BIG EAST Conference Tournament on Friday, Nov. 4, at 5 p.m. at Rutgers' Stadium Complex. Syracuse is making its 16th appearance in the 17-year history of the event. The Orange earned the No. 4 seed this year after finishing the regular season with an 11-8 record and a 3-2 mark in league play.
In the second semifinal, No. 2 Connecticut will square off with No. 3 Louisville. The winners of both games will meet in the championship game at noon on Sunday, Nov. 6. The title game will be televised by ESPNU and shown later that day at 5 p.m.

The BIG EAST Tournament winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which begins first and second-round action on Nov. 11 & 12 at campus sites.
