Chris Liwski, a 2002 graduate of Syracuse University and former captain of the Orange crew team, will be rowing in the five-seat of the Oxford Blue Boat at the 151st “Boat Race” challenge between Oxford and Cambridge Universities on Sunday, March 27 at 10:05 a.m. EST.
Liwski is currently on leave from the SU College of Law to pursue to masters degree in water science, policy and management at Oxford.
The Boat Race is one of the major annual rowing events in the United Kingdom. It will be televised live by ITV all over Europe this year.
Liwski has already experienced international competition. He was a member of the U.S. men's eight that won a championship at the 2002 Nation's Cup. He helped the U.S. men's eight to a championship at the 2003 Pan-American Games, and he was selected to the U.S. men's eight at the World Under-23 Regatta. This past summer, Liwski was an alternate for the US eight at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
