SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Two ranked opponents in women's college lacrosse go head-to-head on March 5, when No. 1-ranked Virginia visits the Carrier Dome for a 12 p.m. encounter with the No. 12-ranked Orange. It will be the first game in a lacrosse doubleheader at the Dome. The defending champion SU men host the Virginia men's lacrosse team at 3 p.m.
The Orange is 2-0 this season after defeating Albany, 17-4, in its 2005 season and home opener on Feb. 27, and Binghamton, 20-1, on March 2. Virginia has not played this season.
This will be the seventh meeting between Virginia and Syracuse in women’s lacrosse. The all-time series is tied, 3-3, and SU has won three-straight meetings against the Cavs, including an 14-13 victory last season at Klockner Stadium. Virginia’s last win against the Orange came on March 3, 2001 at the Carrier Dome, where the Cavs scored a 12-10 victory.
