SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- SU women’s lacrosse student-athletes Monica Joines and Caitlyn Dragon have been named national All-Americans by the IWLCA/US Lacrosse. Joines was named to the second team, while Dragon was picked to the third team.
Joines’ selection marked the first time she has been picked to the second team after being named to the third unit the previous two seasons. It marks the first All-America selection for Dragon.
Joines ranked second on the team this season in points with 51, while being the teams leading scorer with 43 goals. She was also third on the squad with eight assists. Her 129 career goals place her second on Syracuse’s all-time goals list and her 156 career points ranks her third on the all-time points list. Joines was selected to the All-BIG EAST First Team, and last week, was named first-team all-north region for the third-straight year.
Dragon led the Orange this season with 55 points, including 40 goals and 15 assists. Her 40 goals tie her for fifth while her 55 points is fifth on Syracuse’s single-season record book. She is also 10th on SU’s career record for points (62). Earlier this month, Dragon was named first-team All-BIG EAST and All-North Region First Team.
