
Hofstra Shuts Out Syracuse Field Hockey, 2-0

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Pemba Ramdoo and Kara McEneaney registered goals as the Hofstra field hockey team defeated Syracuse, 2-0, at Coyne Field. The Pride improved its season record to 6-2, while the Orange is now 3-4.
Ramdoo beat her defender along the weak side and slapped in a free hit taken by McEneaney at 16:40 of the first half.
McEneaney scored off a penalty corner with 1:39 remaining in the first period. Leslie DeSimone assisted on the play.
Hofstra led, 2-0, at halftime.
Syracuse outshot the Pride 11-8 for the game and 7-3 in the second half, but could not find the back of the net.
Freshman Heather Hess (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) played all 70 minutes for Syracuse and finished with four saves. Jessica Cowperthwait recorded eight saves in goal for Hofstra.
The Orange will now take to the road for its next three games, beginning with a match against St. Louis at Louisville on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m. BIG EAST competition resumes for SU on Sunday, Sept. 25, with a contest against first-year conference member Louisville at 1 p.m. The Cardinals were ranked No. 14 in this week's STX/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll.
