September 3: Z is for Zone – the Fun Zone!

The Syracuse University Quad is once again the place to be for fans of all ages prior to each home football game this fall. The Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Football Fun Zone will open at 10:30 a.m. (three hours prior to kickoff). Be part of the growing excitement every day leading up to SU’s first game (Sept. 4 vs. West Virginia) with our Countdown to Kickoff: A to Z.

The event will begin with the Football “Team March” at 11:05 a.m. Fans are encouraged to join the band and spirit squads in lining the pathway from University Place to the Carrier Dome to welcome head coach Greg Robinson and the 2005 Syracuse Orange as they head to the “Loud House.”

After the “Team March” The “Pride of the Orange” SU Marching Band will hold a pre-game concert on the steps of Hendricks Chapel. SU’s cheerleaders and dance team will also perform on the Quad prior to the game.

Fans can also listen to the pre-game broadcast on the Syracuse ISP Radio Network as “Voice of the Orange”, Matt Park and Coach Dick MacPherson preview the day’s match up. Other pre-game festivities include inflatable games, face painting by the SU Spirit Squad, product sampling and give-a-ways from Syracuse Orange sponsors and purchase food and drink, including Dinosaur Barbeque.

Parking lots and shuttle services to the Quad / College Place will be available from Skytop and Manley Field House beginnings three hours prior to kick-off.

The Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Football Fun Zone is the place to be for all Syracuse fans young and young at heart. In 2004, an estimated 6,000- 8,000 fans filled into the Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Football Fun Zone each game.

Syracuse opens the 2005 season on Sunday, September 4 against West Virginia. The game kicks off at 1:30 and will be televised nationally on ABC.
