Volleyball Splits At Kent State Invitational

KENT, Ohio – The Orange volleyball team split its two matches today at the Kent State Invitational Tournament. SU beat Robert Morris 3-0 (30-19, 30-25, 30-24) in the morning, then lost to Eastern Kentucky 3-0 (30-24, 30-22, 30-27) in the second match.
Senior Kelly Duan led all players in the RMU match with 15 kills. Senior Aila Dommestrup recorded 23 assists while sophomore libero Joscie Kaup had a match-best 13 digs. Robert Morris managed just 27 kills in the match while SU had 54.
EKU held the Orange to a .059 hitting percentage in game one, then capitalized on a .406 hitting percentage in game two to win the first two games on the way to capturing the match in three games. The win snapped a three-match losing streak for the Colonels.
SU continues in the KSU Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 10, when it plays Dartmouth at 11:00 a.m. and Kent State at 6:30 p.m.
