PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Syracuse men’s soccer freshman Hansen Woodruff (Stuart, Fla.) was named to the last BIG EAST Honor Roll of the 2006 season on Monday, Oct. 23. Woodruff notched his fourth game-winning goal of the year to lift SU to a 1-0 victory against DePaul in SU’s season finale on Oct. 21.
Woodruff scored in the 56th minute versus the Blue Demons off a rebound. The Stuart, Fla. native scored five of SU’s last six goals dating back to the St. John’s match on Sept. 27. Woodruff finished the season as the Orange’s leader in points (16) and goals (7). His scoring total is the most for an SU freshman since Jarrett Park scored 24 points in 2001.
Woodruff was selected as the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week on Oct. 9 after tallying the game-winning goal at Villanova to give SU its first conference win of the season.
Syracuse ended the 2006 campaign with an overall record of 7-8-1.
