Chicago, Ill. – Syracuse won its fourth-straight match, defeating DePaul 3-1 (30-23, 30-22, 24-30, 30-18). The Orange improved to 7-16 and 2-3 in BIG EAST play.

“We keep continuing to show improvement all around,” said assistant coach Carol Munger. “We had a great hitting percentage and four players had double-digit in kills. The passing and setting is better and we just hope that it continues throughout BIG EAST play.”
Four SU players finished the match with double-digit kills. Junior Cheryl Cobbina led the team with 20 kills and added 10 digs and freshman Kacie MacTavish added 16 kills and led the team with 15 digs. MacTavish also added a career-best four service aces. Sophomore Brittany Kern recorded 13 kills and classmate Emily Kaier added 10. Syracuse had an attack percentage of .333 and each of the four players that recorded double-digit kills posted an attack percentage of .357 or higher. Freshman Sarah Morton added five kills and a team-leading seven total blocks. Sophomore April Quigley led the team with 55 assists.
DePaul (4-15, 0-4 BIG EAST) led 23-19 in the first game but Syracuse responded by scoring the game’s final 11 points to take a 1-0 advantage. The Orange raced to an early 12-6 lead in the second game and held on to take a two-game advantage. Syracuse once again jumped to a quick lead in the third game. The Orange led by as many as seven points but the Blue Demons ended the game on an 18-4 run to pull within one. Syracuse scored the first four points of the fourth game and never looked back en route to its fourth-straight victory.
The Orange will look to continue its winning ways against BIG EAST rival Notre Dame on Sunday at 1 p.m.
