South Bend, Ind. – The Orange (7-17, 2-4 BIG EAST) had its four-match winning streak snapped by Notre Dame, losing 3-0 (30-25, 30-22, 30-22) to the Fighting Irish.
“Our serving was good, we blocked well and we passed well,” said assistant coach Carol Munger. “Notre Dame just did a good job picking up the ball and they hit really well.”
Freshman Kacie MacTavish led the team with 13 kills and added 12 digs. Classmate Samantha Ainsworth recorded a career-best 28 assists and added seven digs. Junior Joscie Kaup led the team with 20 digs.
“We knew that Notre Dame had a good blocker and since Kacie missed earlier tournaments that had a similar blocker,” Munger said. “It was a real test for her and she did a good job. Also, Samantha Ainsworth did a good job setting today.”
