SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange (7-18, 2-5 BIG EAST) lost its second-straight match on Saturday, losing to Marquette 3-1 (30-23, 25-30, 30-19, 30-17).
“In the first game, Marquette out dug and blocked four more balls then we did,” said assistant coach Carol Munger. “That is why they won the first one. In the second game, our serving really picked up and we were able to capitalize on their serve receive. Our offense also picked it up. In the third game, Marquette just picked up their game and we started to second guess ourselves. We didn’t talk as much. We didn’t get as excited and we got a little worried about losing instead of playing hard for the win. Marquette played well.”
Freshman Kacie MacTavish led the team with 17 kills while junior Cheryl Cobbina added 14 kills. Sophomore April Quigley recorded a team-high 47 assists and added nine digs and five kills. Junior Joscie Kaup led the team with 19 digs.
