BRONX, N.Y. – The Orange lost its third-straight contest, losing to Fordham 3-0 (35-33, 30-25, 30-20). The Orange was without its leader in kills, Cheryl Cobbina, for the fourth-straight match.

Freshman Kacie MacTavish led the team with 11 kills while classmate Sarah Morton added eight kills and three blocks, including two solo blocks. Sophomore April Quigley led the team with 28 assists while junior Joscie Kaup recorded a team-high 13 digs and five assists. Freshman Shanetha McLaurin matched a career-best with 10 digs.
The Orange (11-23) started the match strong, scoring the first four points of the game. Fordham (20-14) quickly responded and took its first lead of the game at 8-7. The Rams stretched its lead to as many as five points during the game only to see the Orange rally and regain the lead. Trailing 25-22, SU scored seven of the game’s next nine points to pull within one point of the game. The Rams scored three-consecutive points to take a 30-29 advantage. Syracuse had two more opportunities to win the opening game before Fordham scored the final three points to take a 1-0 advantage.
The Rams jumped to an early lead in the second game, gaining an early 12-6 advantage. The Orange rallied and eventually tied the game at 16 only to see the Rams respond by scoring 10 of the next 12 points. The Orange did not give up and scored the next four points to pull within four points at 28-24 but the Rams recorded two kills to win the game 30-25.
Fordham once again started strong in the third game. The Rams jumped to an early 10-5 lead and never looked back. Fordham won the third game by 10 points en route to the 3-0 victory.
Syracuse will travel to Brooklyn on Saturday to square-off against Long Island. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
