SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse Orange freshman Lorraine Hill (Chambersburg, Pa.) has been honored as a first-team All-American by the American Track & Field Magazine. Hill earned the honors in the javelin throw.
Hill won the Pennsylvania State Championship in the javelin throw as a senior at Chambersburg High School. She also placed third at the NIKE Outdoor Nationals and second at the Penn Relays. A team captain her senior season, Hill recorded a top mark of 157’4” during the year. She also earned all-state accolades during her high school career.
Selection to the team was based primarily on the regular high school season and state championships. In the javelin, greater importance was placed on meets outside the regular high school season because the event is not contested in all states.
Hill and the Orange open the 2006-07 season at the Cornell Relays on Saturday, December 2.
