Boral to Begin NCAA Championship Competition on Friday

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The Syracuse University men’s swimming & diving team will be represented by junior Luk Boral (Poznan, Poland) at this week’s NCAA Championship hosted by Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga. SU is one of 47 schools being represented at the championship. Boral will compete in the 100 breaststroke on Friday with preliminary action slated for 12 p.m. and the finals to take place at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Boral will compete in the 200 breast prelim at 12 p.m. with hopes of advancing to the finals in the night cap at 7 p.m.
This is Boral’s third consecutive trip to the championship after qualifying for both the 100 and 200 breast at the Nike Cup, Nov. 17-19. He is 19th on the event psych sheet in the 200 breast with his qualifying time of 1:58.71 at North Carolina’s Nike Cup. In the 100 breast, he is 36th on the list with a time of 55.36.
Boral has had several standout performances this year, breaking numerous records and earning ECAC Co-Swimmer of the Week honors. He is the school record holder in the 100 and 200 breast and holds Ted Webster Pool records in each of those events as well as in the 200 individual medley. In addition to his individual events, Boral joined Rob Persico (Fulton, Md.), Wes Matson (Wichita, Kan.) and Josh Scott to set a school record in the 400 freestyle relay last season.
Boral is a two-time BIG EAST Champion in the 200 breast and finished second in the event at this year’s conference meet, Feb. 15-18.
